Questions about Confirmly, answered

Everything Shopify store owners ask before switching on COD confirmation calls — how Confirmly cuts RTO, what happens on each call and to your orders, what it costs, and how safe it is.

About Confirmly

What is Confirmly?

Confirmly is a COD order confirmation app for Shopify stores in India. A few minutes after checkout, it calls each cash-on-delivery customer in their language, reads back the order, confirms the address, answers simple questions and records a clear yes or no — so fewer COD parcels come back as RTO.

How does Confirmly help me reduce RTO?

RTO on COD orders usually comes from three things: orders the customer never really meant, addresses the courier can't find, and buyers who aren't available when the parcel arrives. Confirmly calls every COD order before you ship and deals with all three — it gets a clear yes or no, captures wrong flat numbers and missing landmarks, and notes when the customer wants delivery. Declined and suspicious orders go to your Needs attention queue, so you can cancel them instead of paying to ship them out and back.

How is Confirmly different from an IVR app?

An IVR gives your customer a keypad. Confirmly gives them a conversation. An IVR can only sort orders into yes and no; Confirmly can answer a question, fix an address or note a delivery preference — and turn a “maybe” into a shipped order.

Is Confirmly worth it for a small store?

There's no monthly fee or contract — credits are only used when a customer picks up, so the cost follows your order volume. Start with the 39 free credits on your real orders, and use the calculator above to see what stopping even a few returns is worth for your store.

The calls

Which orders does Confirmly call?

Only cash-on-delivery orders. Confirmly skips prepaid orders, orders that are already fulfilled and orders without a phone number, and it stops once the attempts you allowed are used. Every order in the app shows why it was or wasn't called.

How soon after checkout does Confirmly call?

You decide. You set how long to wait after checkout — 15 minutes is a common choice — and the hours calls are allowed to go out. An order placed outside those hours is called when the window opens.

Does Confirmly call in my store's name?

Yes. Confirmly introduces itself as your store's automated assistant, by your store name, and talks about that customer's order — the items, the total and the delivery address.

Will my customers know Confirmly isn't a person?

Yes. Confirmly introduces itself as your store's automated assistant at the start of every call, and that can't be switched off. The call is natural and conversational, not robotic, but it never pretends to be human.

Which languages does Confirmly speak?

Confirmly speaks Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Odia and English. You pick a default language, and if the customer answers in another language you've enabled, Confirmly switches and carries on.

Will the calls put off genuine customers?

Confirmly is built to be short and polite: it says it's automated, confirms the order in a quick conversation in the customer's language, calls only within your call hours, and stops after the attempts you set. A genuine buyer gets their question answered instead of a press-1 menu.

What if the customer doesn't answer?

Confirmly retries on a schedule you control — you decide how many attempts and how far apart. If the customer still can't be reached after the last attempt, the order is tagged confirmly-unreachable, kept separate from cancelled orders, and sent to your Needs attention queue for you to review.

What if a customer asks something Confirmly can't answer?

Confirmly still confirms what it can, and the question lands in your Needs attention queue with the recording and transcript, so you can follow up. If the same question keeps coming up — returns or exchanges, for example — you'll see that there too.

Your Shopify orders

What happens to the Shopify order after a Confirmly call?

You choose, per outcome. A confirmed order can be tagged confirmly-confirmed and marked ready to fulfil; a declined, unreachable or flagged order can be tagged and sent to your Needs attention queue in Confirmly. Every call also leaves a note on the order's timeline.

Can Confirmly cancel fake or suspicious COD orders?

If you choose. For each outcome — customer declined, unreachable or flagged — you pick whether Confirmly cancels the order in Shopify, leaves it unchanged or sends it to your Needs attention queue. A call is flagged when something looks wrong, like the person saying they never placed the order. Be careful with unreachable: most customers who miss a call are still real buyers.

What if the customer corrects their address on the call?

Confirmly captures the correction and shows it beside the checkout address. You approve it with one click, or switch on automatic address updates.

Will confirmation calls slow down my shipping?

Calls go out minutes after checkout, and a confirmed order can be marked ready to fulfil in Shopify straight away — so your team packs confirmed orders without checking each one by hand.

Can I see what was said on each call?

Yes. Every call is recorded and transcribed. You can play it, read the transcript and see a summary of what was confirmed — and the same summary shows on the Shopify order page.

Pricing and credits

How does Confirmly charge — per call or per minute?

By connected talk time, in credits. A connected minute uses 6.5 credits and a typical confirmation call about 13. You buy credits through Shopify, in your store's billing currency — ₹1 buys 1 credit and $1 buys 95 credits, GST included — so a minute costs ₹6.50 (about $0.068). Calls that don't connect use no credits, and credits never expire.

Won't Confirmly keep talking and run up my bill?

No. Confirmly's job is to get a clear answer and end the call. You set a maximum call length, and every call's talk time and credits show up in your usage log, so nothing is hidden.

What happens when I run out of credits?

Calls pause when your balance can no longer cover a minute of talk time. Top up through Shopify and calling picks up again straight away.

What does it cost to try Confirmly?

Nothing. Installing Confirmly is free, and you get 39 free credits — enough for about 3 confirmation calls on your real orders — so you can check the actual results before you buy anything.

Setup, safety and control

Do I need a developer to set up Confirmly?

No. There is no code to add and nothing to change in your theme or checkout. Install Confirmly from the Shopify App Store, set your default language, call timing and order status mapping, and go live.

Can I pause Confirmly's calls — during a sale, for example?

Yes. You can pause calls from the Confirmly home screen at any time, and switch them back on when you're ready.

How does Confirmly handle India's rules for outbound calls?

Confirmly makes transactional calls about a customer's own order, never marketing calls. It only calls a customer about an order they placed on your store, using the phone number they gave at checkout. It says at the start of every call that it's your store's automated assistant, calls only within the hours you set, and stops after the number of attempts you choose. Your store's privacy policy should tell customers they may get a call to confirm their order. You're responsible for your own store's compliance, so check with your legal adviser if you're unsure.

Is my customers' data safe with Confirmly?

Confirmly uses order and call data only to make the call and show you the result, and deletes it on a schedule. It isn't used for anything else — the privacy policy has the details.
